She was a murderer and! a famous and prolific writer of the beloved Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series and William Monk detection fiction. Martin Edwards knew her as they were fellow crime writers. Where she lived in Scotland is a well kept secret. We took a retired police officer and went on the hunt. We found her house hidden down a beautiful, if spooky, lane. At 15, she killed her best friend’s mother. Death by bludgeoning with a rock sock.
